My artistic journey & approach

How would you define your style?

A blend of influences, with color at the center of my compositions. My work draws from figuration, Impressionism, Surrealism, and contemporary influences to create vibrant works where light and texture play an essential role. Themes include family, sensuality, introspection, and spirituality, with particular focus on Afro-descendant identities.

What techniques do you use?

I mainly work with oil, but also experiment with other media depending on the project.

Is your work politically engaged?

Yes, my practice is rooted in an Afro-feminist perspective. It reflects on identity, memory, and body representation, especially Black bodies. While deeply personal and sensitive, it also invites viewers to engage in reflection.

Which artists inspire you?

Artemisia Gentileschi, Berthe Morisot, Dorothea Tanning, Faith Ringgold, as well as Kupka, Rothko, Magritte, and Munch.
