Welcome to the workshop

My artistic universe

Here, it’s me—unfiltered!

Through my paintings, writings, and cultural mediation projects, I share my vision of art, identity, and transmission.

My work extends beyond the canvas.

I love building bridges between artworks and audiences, sparking discussions, and making art accessible to all.

Whether you are here to discover my universe, acquire a piece, or take part in an artistic experience, take your time to explore, to feel... And above all, to let yourself be carried away.

Je m'appelle
Jessica Lundi-Léandre

Painter based in Paris

I was born in Haiti and currently live in France. I am a painter whose practice is rooted in Afro-feminism and the Caribbean experience. My work explores themes such as the construction of femininity, family, and love in all its forms—parental, platonic, and queer—as well as childhood, offering a sincere representation of human bonds.

“ Mes toiles se situent entre l’intime et l’universel, où narration
et esthétique s’entrelacent pour interroger les discours visuels dominants. “

With a Master’s degree in History and Geography and having studied Art History at the University of Nantes, I approach oil painting as both a personal and political act—an assertion of identity through color, figuration, and an intimate exploration of reality.

Beyond my personal practice, I am deeply invested in cultural mediation and accessibility to art through my structure, Atelier Lundi-Léandre. I am also part of several artist collectives, including Petrichor, which I co-founded to create bridges among women artists and offer renewed perspectives on art.

Je fais également partie de plusieurs collectifs artistiques, dont Petrichor, que j’ai cofondé pour créer des ponts entre les femmes artistes et offrir un regard renouvelé sur l’art

ARTISTIC APPROACH

Between heritage and introspection

My oil painting practice is anchored in the exploration of marginalized narratives, particularly those that connect femininity, childhood, and Black identity. Through my works, I reconfigure representations of beauty and tenderness, highlighting perspectives often excluded from art history. beauty and tenderness, highlighting perspectives often overlooked in art history.

My canvases also draw from my Haitian roots and explore Vodou spirituality. As an Afro- descendant and queer woman, I question representations of identity and the sacred, with particular attention to non-heteronormative voices and experiences.

My work becomes a form of gentle resistance, where fragility and vulnerability are strengths, and where each canvas invites viewers to reconsider the complexity and richness of our cultural and spiritual heritage. I approach these themes through portraits and scenes of life in oil painting.

My painting is Afro-feminist and Caribbean, rooted in openness. It goes beyond questions of gender and sexuality to address care, intimacy, and belonging. In this shared space, I envision art as a field of exchange, a tool of reclamation, and a mirror in which multiple identities may finally recognize themselves.

Inspired by artists such as Artemisia Gentileschi, Berthe Morisot, Dorothea Tanning, and Faith Ringgold, I enjoy composing works that challenge established frameworks, while drawing upon a narrative and symbolic aesthetic. My visual approach oscillates between realism and dreamlike imagery, as I believe this duality best reflects the contradictions, aspirations, and resistances that shape my practice and our lives.
